Privacy policy – Nztennisodds

Running a site about tennis and other betting requires very little personal information, and Nztennisodds keeps to that minimum. Handling follows the Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles (section 22).

Responsible agency

The body operating Nztennisodds is the agency responsible for personal information collected through it. Its name, address and e-mail are available at tennisoddsnz.com, the same channel serving every privacy question.

Information held

Opening any page makes the server record: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the amount of data transferred, the referring page and the browser type. These logs support security and abuse detection, and after 90 days they are deleted or trimmed until they cannot identify a person. Someone writing to the editors provides a name, e-mail address and message, used only for the reply. Reader accounts, deposits and bets do not exist, so payment details and identity documents are never collected.

Why, and on what principles

Purposes are lawful and tied to the site: keeping it available and secure, answering messages and, once the cookie banner choice is made, measuring the audience (IPP 1). The people concerned are told what is collected and why (IPP 3), and use stays within those purposes (IPP 10). No automated decision-making or profiling occurs.

Providers and transfer abroad

Information is not sold. It goes to providers who host the site, deliver content and run e-mail, and to public authorities where law requires. A provider may hold information outside New Zealand; disclosure abroad takes place only if the receiver offers comparable safeguards or the person was told and agrees, as IPP 12 demands.

Safeguards and retention

Reasonable safeguards guard against loss and misuse (IPP 5). Retention follows the purpose (IPP 9): server logs 90 days at most, correspondence until the matter ends plus the time needed to handle any claim. A notifiable privacy breach, one that has caused or is likely to cause serious harm, is reported to the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected.

Access and correction

Any person can ask what is held about them (IPP 6) and ask for corrections (IPP 7). The response comes as soon as reasonably practicable and within 20 working days of receipt at the latest (section 40).

Complaints

Where a person believes privacy was breached, a complaint can go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
